China has extended an offer to Taiwan, proposing energy stability in exchange for the island's agreement to reunite under Beijing's rule—a proposition Taiwan has consistently opposed.

Amidst the disruption in global energy supplies caused by conflicts in the Middle East, Taiwan has fortified its energy sources by securing alternatives from nations including the United States, rebuffing reliance on China, which is not among its suppliers.

While China, through spokesperson Chen Binhua, promises enhanced energy security under 'peaceful reunification', Taiwan's leadership, steadfast in its sovereignty, reiterates its diverse energy strategy, ensuring independence from Chinese control despite possible pressures.
