The Haryana government is set to unveil a green hydrogen policy, marking a significant move towards clean energy adoption in the state. Officials confirmed on Tuesday that this policy will coincide with India's largest Green Hydrogen project, providing a capacity of 10,000 tonnes per annum at Panipat, developed by Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) under a Public-Private Partnership model.

A high-profile meeting led by Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi reviewed the progress of this ambitious project. It was detailed that the plant's operations could commence by December 2026, targeting the supply of green hydrogen to IOCL's Panipat Refinery. The project portrays a pivotal step in furthering India's clean energy ambitions, aligning with the Prime Minister's Panchamrit commitments.

Additional aspects discussed included ensuring ample power supplies for the venture. Senior figures, such as Additional Chief Secretary Anurag Agarwal and Director of New & Renewable Energy Sangeeta Tetarwal, emphasized how the project could revolutionize Haryana's industrial environment by driving decarbonization in sectors like refining and steel. Moreover, the SIGHT scheme under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy promises incentives to attract largescale investments. The regional transition towards green ammonia could drastically cut fossil fuel dependence, fostering employment growth.
