Bapco Force Majeure Sparks Oil Supply Concerns
Bahrain’s Bapco declared force majeure on its operations after an attack on its oil refinery, disrupting Middle East oil production. Despite this, Bapco maintains domestic supply security and proactive planning supports continued fuel availability. Bapco's refinery capacity recently increased to 380,000 barrels per day.
Bahrain's national oil company, Bapco, declared force majeure on its operations on Monday, following an attack on its refinery complex. This development comes amid ongoing conflict in the Middle East, further impacting the region's oil production.
Bapco's Sitra refinery, with a capacity of 380,000 barrels per day, is a significant player in the Middle East oil market. It imports Saudi crude via a cross-border pipeline, a vital outlet for Saudi Arabian oil producers. The disruption raises concerns over the region's supply chain.
Despite the crisis, Bapco assures that all domestic market needs remain secured. The company has implemented proactive plans to ensure that supplies like diesel, jet fuel, and naphtha continue without disruption. Bapco's enhanced refining capacity, recently expanded from 265,000 barrels per day, underlines its crucial role in meeting regional demand.
