Cross-Border Crackdown: Arrests in Activist's Murder Stun West Bengal

The West Bengal Special Task Force has arrested two Bangladeshi nationals for the murder of activist Sharif Osman Hadi. The West Bengal Police Special Task Force made a significant arrest by capturing two Bangladeshi nationals near the Bongaon border. The accused, identified as Rahul alias Faisal Karum Masud and Alamgir Hossain, are allegedly involved in the murder of noted activist Sharif Osman Hadi in Bangladesh.

According to a press release by the West Bengal STF, the suspects fled Bangladesh after committing heinous crimes including murder and extortion. Acting on a tip-off, authorities intercepted the duo as they tried to take refuge in Bongaon, with plans to sneak back across the border into Bangladesh.

Preliminary interrogation unveiled their admission to Hadi's murder, executed after entering India through the Meghalaya border. The arrests have led to a specific case filing. The suspects have been remanded in police custody following a court appearance, while further investigations continue to unfold.
