Peru Unleashes Fuel Reserves Amid Energy Turmoil
Peru is releasing fuel reserves to address an energy crisis due to a pipeline rupture. Remote work and virtual learning will be encouraged. Natural gas exports have been suspended, and restrictions imposed on gas supplies to industries and electricity users during repairs.
In response to an escalating energy crisis, Peru's Prime Minister Denisse Miralles announced the release of fuel reserves to stabilize domestic consumption. The decision aims to counteract the effects of a significant energy shortfall.
The government is taking steps to promote remote working arrangements for both public and private sector employees. Moreover, educational institutions across the country will transition to virtual learning platforms, Miralles confirmed at a recent press conference.
The crisis comes in the wake of a pipeline rupture at Peru's largest gas field, as reported by Energy and Mines Minister Angelo Alfaro. Operator Transportadora de Gas del Peru (TGP) has suspended natural gas exports and implemented temporary supply restrictions to industrial and electricity sector users while emergency repairs are underway.
