In a harrowing incident on Sunday evening, five individuals lost their lives in a road accident in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, according to local police. The fatal crash occurred near the East Coast Road in Vaippar-1 village, part of the Vilathikulam taluk.
The victims were travelling on a two-wheeler driven by 40-year-old Gurusamy, a resident of Pallakulam village, when they collided head-on with a tourist van. The van was en route from Sayalkudi in Ramanathapuram district to Thoothukudi, marking a tragic intersection.
Expressing deep sorrow over the incident, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin extended his condolences and sympathy to the grieving families. He announced a relief assistance of Rs 3 lakh for each family through the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund. Further details of the accident are still pending investigation.
