Russia Accuses U.S. of Discriminatory Tactics in Venezuelan Oil Trade

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has criticized new U.S. sanctions targeting Russia's role in Venezuela's oil industry, calling them a form of blatant discrimination. In response to these measures, the Kremlin announced plans to seek clarification from Washington on their implications.

The U.S. Treasury Department recently issued a general license to support the exploration and production of oil and gas in Venezuela. However, this license notably excludes transactions involving Russian and Chinese nationals or entities, raising tensions between the nations involved.

Lavrov emphasized that Russia remains in contact with the U.S. regarding the restrictions, advocating for a collaborative relationship based on mutual respect, free from domination.
