Eric Knight's Bold Bet on Europe's Green Energy Future

Eric Knight, the CEO and founder of Knight Vinke Asset Management, has announced the withdrawal of his hedge fund from the U.S. market due to high risks under President Donald Trump's administration, emphasizing a strategic pivot towards Europe for its predictable policies on green energy initiatives.

The Monaco-based hedge fund, recognized for its transformative role in pushing Shell to unify into a single company in 2005, sold its last U.S. investments in August. The fund reported a 17.9% return in 2025, now focusing on Europe's energy sector, particularly investing in Britain's SSE due to its promising offshore wind projects.

Knight criticized the inconsistent legal landscape in the U.S., particularly in the alternative energy sector, and highlighted the halted offshore wind projects as deterrents. In contrast, he envisions doubling the valuation of his investments in SSE in the coming decade, urging increased investment in UK offshore wind projects.
