The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is on the brink of marking a significant milestone. Scheduled for a Sunday evening launch, ISRO plans to send the GSAT 7R (CMS-03), the heaviest communication satellite developed in India, into space for the Indian Navy. Weighing in at approximately 4,400 kg, this mission promises to bolster the Navy’s space-based communication and maritime domain awareness.
The satellite, equipped with cutting-edge components tailored to meet the Indian Navy's needs, will take flight from the second launch pad at Satish Dhawan Space Station in Sriharikota. ISRO has confirmed that the event will be streamed live on their YouTube channel, offering a real-time glimpse for space enthusiasts worldwide.
This mission will see CMS-03, a multi-band communication satellite, ascending into a Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO) via ISRO's esteemed LVM3 rocket. The vehicle is notable for its success with the Chandrayaan-3 mission, which saw India land near the lunar south pole. LVM3, with its 43.5-meter height and 642-tonne lift-off mass, promises to deliver another triumph for India's space endeavors.
