Cyclone Montha Leaves Andhra Pradesh’s Power Infrastructure in Ruins

Andhra Pradesh's power infrastructure faced substantial damage as Cyclone Montha struck, with nearly 13,000 electric poles, 3,000 transformers, and vast stretches of conductor lines affected, according to Energy Minister G Ravi Kumar.
Responding promptly, the Energy Department deployed approximately 1,500 personnel, ensuring most regions had power within 24 hours, despite the extensive network damages.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu reported financial losses reaching at least Rs 5,265 crore. Minister Kumar highlighted the department's commitment to maintaining public safety and ensuring quick power restoration.
