The Kerala government has officially announced a significant increase in the Dearness Allowance (DA) for teaching staff associated with UGC, AICTE, and medical education schemes, alongside a rise in Dearness Relief (DR) for relevant pensioners. Effective from late 2025, teaching staff on the revised scale since January 2016 will see their DA jump from 42% to 46%.
For those still adhering to the pay scale effective since January 2006, the DA will rise from 221% to 230%. Similarly, UGC pensioners whose pensions were updated as per a 2020 order will receive an increase from 42% to 46%, while those outside this bracket will see DR rise from 221% to 230%.
These enhancements extend to institutions receiving government aid where UGC, AICTE, and medical education schemes apply, subject to fund availability. However, the increase excludes entities like the Kerala State Electricity Board Ltd., which must follow their protocols for DA-DR adjustments.
