India's Renewable Revolution: From 81 GW to Global Leadership
India has rapidly expanded its renewable energy capacity from 81 GW in 2014 to 257 GW, now ranking fourth globally. Under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, India met its 2030 renewable energy targets early, promoting affordable clean energy and contributing to a new global energy order.

India is now recognized as the fourth-largest country in terms of renewable energy capacity, achieving a substantial increase from 81 GW in 2014 to 257 GW today. This evolution was highlighted by Union Minister Pralhad Joshi during the International Solar Alliance Assembly.
Underlining the country's prowess, Joshi emphasized that solar capacity surged from 2.8 GW to 128 GW since 2014. Additionally, India's solar module manufacturing soared from 2 GW to 110 GW, while solar cell production went from negligible to 27 GW.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership has been instrumental in India's early achievement of its Nationally Determined Contribution target. This underscores the nation's commitment to fighting climate change, making solar and clean energy more affordable globally, positioning India as a key player in the energy transition.
