In a bold rebuke, Russia slammed the European Union's ban on Russian liquefied natural gas imports as 'completely self-destructive.' According to Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, the EU has overlooked the consequences on its energy market and broader interests.
Zakharova emphasized that Europe is a region lacking substantial hydrocarbon reserves. She warned that with the EU's drive towards digitalization and increased dependence on Artificial Intelligence, energy demands will inevitably rise.
Critically likening the EU to a 'zombie,' Zakharova argued that the bloc seems unaware of the significant damage its energy policies could inflict on its economic landscape.
