A 30-year-old woman, identified as Aarti, reportedly set herself ablaze in a distressing incident stemming from a domestic dispute in Uttar Pradesh's Lalitpur district. The tragic event has raised concerns about domestic issues faced by women in the region.

The incident occurred on Tuesday evening in Banpur, when Aarti allegedly poured a flammable substance over herself following a quarrel with her husband, Sanju Raja, at their residence in Barai village. Initially admitted to Lalitpur district hospital in critical condition, she was later transferred to Jhansi Medical College due to the severity of her injuries.

According to a statement given to the police, Aarti claimed that her drastic action was a result of her husband's refusal to allow her to visit her parents. Although her family has yet to lodge a formal complaint, Additional Superintendent of Police Kalu Singh has assured that an investigation is underway, with officers dispatched to the hospital.
