Ukrainian Drone Strike Impacts Karachaganak Oil Field Output

Kazakhstan's Karachaganak oil and gas condensate field has significantly reduced its production volumes following an incident at Russia's Orenburg plant, as reported by the field's operator via email to Reuters on Tuesday.

Sources revealed on Monday that a Ukrainian drone attack on the Orenburg gas processing plant, one of the world's largest, forced Kazakhstan to slash production by 25% to 30%. Ukraine confirmed targeting the Orenburg and Samara regions, intensifying its assaults on Russian energy infrastructures.

Output at Karachaganak fell to between 25,000 and 28,000 metric tons from the usual 35,000-35,500 tons. Kazakhstan's energy ministry acknowledged the reduction, anticipating a return to normalcy once Orenburg operations resume. The field is operated by a consortium comprising Chevron, Shell, Eni, Lukoil, and KazMunayGaz.
