Unexpected Snowfall in North India Boosts Tourism and Brings Relief from Heat

Fresh snowfall and rain in the mountainous regions north of Delhi have brought a significant drop in temperatures, offering respite from the heat that had gripped the national capital earlier this month. On Thursday, temperatures in Delhi fell after reaching a record high of 36 degrees Celsius.

In Shimla, tourists were caught off-guard by the sudden change in weather. The unexpected chill brought on by rain led visitors to don shawls and hoodies as they strolled Mall Road. 'We checked the forecast online and saw rain was predicted, so we packed accordingly,' a tourist shared with PTI Videos. Meanwhile, Delhi reported breezy conditions as brief showers kept the minimum temperature at 17.6 degrees Celsius.

The weather experts indicate that this system is expected to intensify over central Pakistan and Punjab-Haryana regions from Thursday onwards, potentially leading to further rain. With the snow deficit in winter being compensated, Himachal's Manali and Jammu and Kashmir saw a surge in tourism, reportedly boosting hotel occupancy and supporting the local tourism industry.
