Tension escalated at the Baba Shri Bhuteshwar Dham Temple after a viral photo allegedly showed priest Prashant Giri consuming non-vegetarian food. This prompted a group to confront him, resulting in a violent altercation.
Prashant's father, Santosh Giri, the temple's mahant, took immediate action by expelling his son. The disquiet deepened when locals gathered at the temple, demanding answers from the priest.
Authorities have confirmed that Prashant Giri is now missing and they are investigating the case, having initiated preventive action against him for breach of peace.
