In a significant move to foster scientific curiosity, Assam's first Science City has been inaugurated by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma at Sonapur, near Guwahati. This ambitious project aims to elevate the state's scientific infrastructure, establishing it as one of India's leading science hubs.

Spread across 82 acres and costing Rs 300 crore, the Science City boasts of impressive features including Eureka and Space Odyssey, promising to serve as a catalyst for nurturing young scientific minds. It is envisioned to be comparable to, or even exceed, existing facilities like Kolkata's Science City.

Chief Minister Sarma highlighted plans for additional amenities such as Science Innovation and Science Park, designed to further galvanize Assam's youth towards scientific endeavours. The launch also included the virtual inauguration of five district Science Centres, equipped with galleries and digital planetariums, fostering a culture of innovation statewide.
