Kedarnath Temple Set to Welcome Devotees After Six-Month Hiatus

The sacred Kedarnath Temple, nestled in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand, is set to reopen its doors to devotees on April 22, following a six-month closure for the winter season. This announcement was made by Harish Gaur, Public Relations Officer of the Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee, on Sunday.

The auspicious date for the temple's reopening was determined during the Mahashivratri celebrations at the Omkareshwar Temple, the winter seat of Lord Kedarnath. Here, religious scholars and priests conducted rituals and special prayers, eventually calculating the favorable timing through traditional Hindu calendar readings.

The reopening will coincide with the broader commencement of the Char Dham Yatra pilgrimage season, as Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri dhams also finalize their schedules. The ceremony at Omkareshwar Temple was vibrant and colorful, adorned with over nine quintals of flowers and attended by prominent figures, religious leaders, and hundreds of devotees.
