Anand Ramanand Sagar Chopra, son of the legendary filmmaker Ramanand Sagar, has passed away at the age of 84. He took his last breath in Mumbai on February 13, 2026.

In a heartfelt note, his family announced, "It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our dear father Anand Ramanand Sagar Chopra. Your prayers and blessings for his peaceful journey are sincerely appreciated. - Sagar Family." The funeral took place at Pawan Hans Crematorium, attended by notable film industry figures including Poonam Dhillon, Bhagyashree, and Ramesh Sippy, who came to pay their respects.

A prayer meeting to honor Anand’s memory is expected on Monday. Anand is survived by his wife Nisha Sagar, children Shakti, Gauri, and Amar Sagar, daughter-in-law Vaishali, and grandchildren Aanya and Arjun.

As the son of legendary Ramanand Sagar, creator of the iconic 1987 TV series 'Ramayan', Anand was instrumental in the second generation of Sagar Pictures Entertainment. His contributions to Indian mythological narratives were significant, highlighted by his work on the 2008 television epic 'Ramayan'. He also worked on the film 'Armaan', known for the hit song 'Ramba Ho Ho Ho', recently reimagined for the Ranveer Singh film 'Durandhar'.
