In a remarkable feat, filmmaker Aditya Dhar's espionage thriller 'Dhurandhar' has soared to the top of Netflix's global Top 10 non-English films list, amassing 7.6 million views. Garnering significant viewership in India and other markets, the film set in Pakistan is being hailed for its gripping narrative.
According to Netflix's Tudum weekly chart for the period of January 26 to February 1, 'Dhurandhar' led the global charts among non-English films, with the Ranveer Singh-starrer also clinching the No. 1 spot on Netflix's Top 10 Movies list in Pakistan. This achievement is noteworthy, given that Indian films do not receive theatrical releases in the country, further underscoring the film's impact.
Set in the notorious Lyari town of Karachi, 'Dhurandhar' revolves around covert intelligence operations against the backdrop of geopolitical and terror events like the Kandahar plane hijack, the 2001 Parliament Attack, and the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. Praised for its powerful narrative, the film is trending across South Asia and the Gulf, despite not being released in the latter due to its alleged anti-Pakistan narrative.
