Austin Butler is slated to star in a new biopic about Lance Armstrong, the controversial cycling icon whose legacy includes both remarkable achievements and a major doping scandal. The project, confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter, brings together a high-caliber team featuring filmmaker Edward Berger at the helm and produced by industry veteran Scott Stuber.

The screenplay, written by Oscar-nominated Zach Baylin, will delve into Armstrong's tumultuous life story. Known for his work on 'King Richard', Baylin accompanies a production team including Berger, Stuber, and Nick Nesbit, with executive producers Josh Glick and Zac Frognowski on board.

Although not linked to Stuber's United Artists, the film is currently seeking studio partners. It will explore Armstrong's rise to fame with record Tour de France victories, as well as his subsequent fall from grace due to doping allegations confirmed by the United States Anti-Doping Agency. In addition to cycling, Armstrong's cancer advocacy through the Livestrong Foundation will be highlighted.
