The Central Zoo Authority (CZA) has initiated a significant move by forming a sub-committee to explore Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) fund contributions for zoos. This decision was announced during the 43rd CZA meeting, chaired by Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav.
Key meeting outcomes include the establishment of a sub-committee to evaluate CSR opportunities and enhanced meeting frequencies aligning with the National Board for Wildlife standards. The meeting also underscored the importance of the Management Effectiveness Evaluation (MEE) to maintain high standards in zoos nationwide.
Minister Kirti Vardhan Singh emphasized zoos as vital educational sites, urging officials to adopt global best practices. With youth increasingly focused on technology, zoos are pivotal in fostering an appreciation for nature among urban dwellers.
