Goa Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte has announced a resolute stance against unauthorized parties that jeopardize public safety and harm the state's reputation as a tourist destination. This pledge follows concerns raised by Opposition Leader Yuri Alemao and several MLAs in the state assembly.
Khaunte stressed the need for a multi-agency approach in regulating tourism activities, as the tourism department alone monitors hotels, beach venues, and water sports, while unlawful events need enforcement from agencies like the police. In addressing these issues, firmer actions, including FIR registrations, have been initiated against illegal activities affecting Goa’s public safety and image.
In line with repositioning Goa as both a responsible and culturally enriched tourist hotspot, Khaunte revealed marketing strategies targeting value-conscious and culturally sensitive visitors, especially from Europe. Initiatives like 'Goa Beyond Beaches' aim to render the state's hinterland, heritage, and spiritual tourism offerings more appealing to international audiences.
