The NDA has unveiled plans to enhance the Punaura Dham Janki Mandir, traditionally believed to be the birthplace of Goddess Sita, into a globally recognized spiritual city. As detailed in the NDA's manifesto for the upcoming Bihar assembly polls, this transformation will reimagine the historical site, significantly boosting both cultural reverence and tourism potential.

The Union Home Minister Amit Shah's previous inauguration in August of the grand 'Mata Janaki Temple,' set across 67 acres, has set the stage for this ambitious project. With parallels drawn to the renowned Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the plan includes an array of tourist-friendly infrastructure, leveraging the nearly 900-crore budget approved by the Bihar cabinet in July.

Charged with executing this vision, the Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation will oversee manifold enhancements. A plethora of new facilities including a museum, dharamshala, parikrama path, and more, will cater to the yearly influx of pilgrims. A nine-member trust, alongside a specialized design consultancy, will ensure the temple complex meets the spiritual and architectural aspirations envisioned.
