A dramatic canine rescue unfolded in San Francisco as firefighters saved a dog that fell off an oceanside bluff at Fort Funston. The pet, unfamiliar with the area, slipped and plummeted, landing on a ledge approximately 40 feet down.
A San Francisco police drone operator assisted firefighters by locating the dog from above. A firefighter then rappelled down the cliff, safely securing the 18-kilogram dog with a harness for their ascent to safety.
In light of frequent rescues in the scenic coastal park, authorities urge visitors to adhere to marked paths for their safety and the safety of their pets.
