In a significant nod to women's empowerment within India's security forces, the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas parade, celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, is set to feature women leading all contingents. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the event at Ekta Nagar, Gujarat, a venue known for reflecting unity in diversity.
This year's parade will be commanded by Simran Bhardwaj, a 2022 batch IPS officer. Contingents led by women officers from paramilitary forces such as BSF, CISF, ITBP, CRPF, SSB, as well as police units from several states, will participate, underscoring the strength of women in uniform. Additionally, women from the CISF and CRPF will perform martial arts and unarmed combat drills.
The parade will also feature unique displays, including a BSF dog contingent, an air show by the Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team, and a motorcycle daredevil act by Assam Police. Ten different tableaux will reinforce the ‘unity in diversity’ theme, marking a proud showcase of India's cultural and military prowess.
