The classic Satyajit Ray film 'Aranyer Din Ratri' has been digitally restored in stunning 4K, and it is set to be showcased in Kolkata this November. The esteemed Cannes Film Festival previously screened the restored version in May, where it received an overwhelmingly positive reception.

The meticulous restoration was a joint effort by the Film Heritage Foundation and The Film Foundation's World Cinema Project, with the technical work carried out at L'Immagine Ritrovata in Bologna, Italy. The process addressed various issues, including dust, scratches, and digital flickering, while improving sound quality with a magnetic track from the BFI National Archive.

The restored masterpiece will debut in Kolkata at Priya Cinema on November 7, followed by another screening on November 8 at the Nandan complex as part of the Kolkata International Film Festival. This marks a significant tribute to Satyajit Ray, with the Dutta family continuing to plan additional screenings in other theatres.
