The Supreme Court of India has issued a directive to the central government to establish a committee of domain experts within the week to revamp the legal studies curriculum in NCERT textbooks.
This decision stems from allegations concerning a chapter in the Class 8 social science book that reportedly contained objectionable content regarding corruption in the judiciary.
The court ordered an immediate halt on the publication and distribution of these textbooks, advocating a new curriculum designed by a panel including a former judge, an academician, and a law practitioner.
