IIM-Calcutta Director Takes on New Role as Vice Chancellor

Prof Alok Kumar Rai, Director of IIM-Calcutta, has been given additional responsibilities as Vice Chancellor of NSCBIHL in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The NSCBIHL is recognized by the UGC and aims at enhancing higher education. Rai previously served as Vice Chancellor of the University of Lucknow.

In a significant development, Prof Alok Kumar Rai, who currently serves as the Director of IIM-Calcutta, has been appointed as the Vice Chancellor of the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Institute of Higher Learning (NSCBIHL) in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

The institute, located in Sri Vijaya Puram, is a deemed-to-be university and holds recognition under the University Grants Commission (UGC). Expressing his eagerness, Rai stated, "I am honored to be entrusted with the additional responsibility to serve as Vice Chancellor of NSCBIHL."

Rai looks forward to collaborating with the academic community to enhance the institution's ecosystem and advance higher education opportunities in the region. He has previously held the position of Vice Chancellor at the University of Lucknow.
