Parental Accountability: Colin Gray Convicted in Son's High School Shooting Case

In a landmark legal decision, Colin Gray, the father of a teenager involved in a deadly high school shooting in 2024, has been convicted by a U.S. jury. Found guilty of second-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter, Gray faced trial for his role in the tragedy at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia.

Prosecutors argued that Gray, 55, armed his son, Colt Gray, gifting him the rifle that was used in the incident. The teenager, then 14, fatally shot four individuals and wounded seven others. Despite the defense's claim that only his son should be held accountable, the jury took less than two hours to deliver their verdict.

The trial highlighted parental responsibility in mass shootings, focusing on who enabled and armed Colt Gray. While the case against the elder Gray concludes, the trial for Colt Gray, who faces 55 counts, including multiple murder charges, has not yet been scheduled.
