A recent survey reveals that over 66% of parents and teachers recognize generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) as a tool for learning, yet they are concerned about increased risks, such as technology overuse and misinformation. The report, presented at the Impact AI Summit, shows 96% of GenAI-using students utilize it for educational purposes, with 59% using it solely for school-related tasks.

The Bharat Survey for EdTech (BaSE) 2025, conducted by the Central Square Foundation, provides a detailed analysis of technology access and usage in education among low-income families in India. The study, drawing from a sample of 12,500 children and 2,500 teachers across 10 Indian states, also highlights the introduction of GenAI to children, primarily through peers and educational institutions.

While 77% of respondents cited technology overuse as a major concern, 84% observed improved learning outcomes from GenAI tools. The survey also found that a significant majority of EdTech adopters began usage during the COVID-19 pandemic, with motivations including better learning outcomes and future preparedness.
