Tragedy Strikes: Young Medical Student Found Dead in Hostel

In a tragic incident, the body of 21-year-old medical student Lavanya Pratap was discovered hanging in the toilet of her hostel room at a Durgapur medical college. Authorities suspect suicide due to academic pressures, as she had recently failed a subject.

Lavanya, a resident of Patna, Bihar, was pursuing her MBBS degree. The unfortunate discovery was made on Saturday night, post which her body was secured in the hospital morgue pending further investigation. The police are awaiting post-mortem reports to ascertain the exact cause of death.

Detectives are probing Lavanya's academic stress and have reached out to classmates and hostel residents for any additional information. This incident follows another grim event at the same college where a female student was allegedly gang-raped last year, putting safety at the institution under scrutiny once again.
