The Rajasthan Education Department was compelled to withdraw a controversial order that had assigned five teachers to a religious event after backlash from political leaders. The order, initially issued on February 2, entailed deploying teachers from government schools in Bundi's Nainwa block for arrangements at a nine-day Ram Katha event.
Criticism arose swiftly, with Congress leader Govind Singh Dotasra criticising the inappropriate use of educators for non-academic functions, highlighting what he deemed a 'misuse' of the education system. Dotasra emphasized the need for teachers to focus on educational duties rather than being redirected to religious programmes.
The Chief Block Education Officer acknowledged the lapse, stating the order was rescinded after realizing its inappropriateness. This incident underscores ongoing debates about the allocation of educational resources and government priorities.
