Maharashtra Bolsters Youth Employment with PM SETU
The Maharashtra cabinet has approved the PM SETU scheme in Industrial Training Institutes to enhance skill development and job opportunities. Initially launching in Nagpur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, and Pune, the program aims to upgrade infrastructure at 1,000 ITIs. Additionally, cabinet decisions include TReDS platform adoption and support for Dhule's spinning mill.

The Maharashtra cabinet has given the green light to the PM SETU scheme, aiming to improve skill development and employment for the youth. The initiative will be introduced in Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across Nagpur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, and Pune districts in its first phase, with plans for further expansion.
Launched on October 4, 2025, the Pradhan Mantri Skilling and Employability Transformation through Upgraded ITIs (PM-SETU) scheme seeks to upgrade the training infrastructure of 1,000 government ITIs, enhancing job placement processes. The scheme represents a significant step towards modernizing skill education in the region.
Other cabinet decisions include utilizing the Trade Receivables Discounting System (TReDS) for contractor payments, benefiting micro, small, and medium enterprises related to the Public Works Department. Furthermore, the revival of the Jawahar Shetkari Cooperative Spinning Mill in Dhule and lease extensions of government land for various purposes were approved.
