Kerala's Educational Tug-of-War: PM SHRI and SSK Funding

Kerala's General Education Minister, V Sivankutty, spoken out on the state's decision to pause implementing the PM SHRI scheme while continuing efforts to secure Samagra Shiksha Kerala (SSK) funding from the Union government.

Minister Sivankutty is scheduled to visit New Delhi on November 10, aiming to discuss the SSK funds with the Union education minister. This move reflects Kerala's strategic approach to retaining its education priorities under the state's Left Democratic Front (LDF).

Controversy regarding the PM SHRI scheme has led to a temporary halt, following concerns of it potentially aligning with an RSS agenda, as pointed out by Kerala's CPI party. The state's chief minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, announced a seven-member cabinet sub-committee to thoroughly examine the scheme against the proclaimed policies of the LDF.
