India-Sri Lanka Partnership Transforms Education Landscape
Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya expressed gratitude for India's significant role in Sri Lanka's education sector. At the inauguration of the Multi-Ethnic Trilingual School, funded by an Indian grant, she lauded India's assistance and emphasized ongoing Sri Lankan initiatives to improve educational infrastructure and teacher shortages.

Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya on Friday extended heartfelt thanks to India for its unwavering support in advancing Sri Lanka's education sector. Addressing a gathering in Polonnaruwa, Amarasuriya, also the island nation's Minister of Education, acknowledged India's crucial role in improving educational facilities.
The occasion was marked by the inauguration of a Multi-Ethnic Trilingual School in Polonnaruwa, a project realized through an Indian grant surpassing SLR 320 million. The Indian High Commissioner, Santosh Jha, and the Sri Lankan Prime Minister were among the distinguished guests at the ceremony.
Amarasuriya highlighted the Sri Lankan government's drive to tackle challenges in education, such as infrastructure inadequacies and teacher shortages, whilst appreciating India's support through various projects. The school stands as a testament to the collaborative spirit fostered by the 2017 Memorandum of Understanding between the two nations for promoting quality education.
