Delhi is making strides toward cleaner air with its Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy 2026, Transport Minister Pankaj Singh announced during a stakeholders' conference in Delhi. The initiative aims to position the city as the 'EV Capital' of India by significantly increasing the count of electric vehicles along with supportive infrastructure.
Key discussions centered around integrating the draft EV Policy with Delhi's Solar Policy to boost sustainability outcomes. Input from participants emphasized establishing a more comprehensive public and private charging network, with suggestions for consultations with Delhi Transco Limited (DTL) to accelerate EV adoption.
Highlighted was the pressing need for residential charging infrastructure, urging Resident Welfare Associations' involvement to address parking concerns for last-mile connectivity. The conference underscored mapping existing infrastructure for better deployment, targeting a growth from 9,000 to 32,000-36,000 charging points in the future.
