Summer Surge: Milk Prices Soar in Madhya Pradesh

The cost of milk has seen a noticeable uptick across several regions of Madhya Pradesh as the new financial year begins. Prices have surged by Rs 2 to Rs 4 per litre, largely due to the inflated costs of animal feed during the summer, according to authorities.
Bharat Mathurawala, president of the Madhya Pradesh Milk Vendors Federation, confirmed the price increase to PTI. He noted that loose milk in Indore, once priced at Rs 60 per litre, now sells for Rs 63. Other cities like Ujjain and Bhopal have also experienced similar hikes, tailored to local conditions.
The rise in prices can be attributed to a combination of decreased availability of green fodder and an increase in feed prices. These factors contribute to reduced milk production capacity in cattle during the hotter months, Mathurawala explained.
