The Congress party launched a fierce critique of the government's economic management following a significant rise in prices of key commodities. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge accused the Modi administration of damaging strategic and economic policies, leaving ordinary citizens to bear the brunt.
Kharge highlighted the escalation in prices of commercial LPG cylinders, which increased by ₹195.50, citing global oil market upheavals linked to the West Asia conflict. He pointed out that aviation turbine fuel and essential medicines have also surged in price, adding economic strain on citizens.
With these increases, Kharge criticized the BJP's focus on enriching themselves, calling the situation 'BJP loot diwas'. Amidst global conflicts impacting energy supplies, the government has not updated petrol and diesel prices since last year's reduction.
