Global Maritime Company's Call for Justice After Deadly Tanker Attack
The Safesea Group has demanded an independent international investigation after an attack on its tanker, MT Safesea Vishnu, killed an Indian crew member. The incident, occurring in Iraqi waters, highlights threats to global trade. The company emphasizes maritime security and seafarer safety, urging transparent oversight and accountability.
In a call to action, Safesea Group has urged for an independent international investigation following a deadly assault on its crude oil tanker, MT Safesea Vishnu, which claimed the life of an Indian crew member last month. The company describes the attack as a severe threat to global shipping and trade stability.
Operating under a Marshall Islands flag, the tanker was in Iraqi territorial waters when a suspected Iranian "suicide" boat attacked it. The incident's precision execution, reconnaissance efforts, and real-time monitoring raise profound concerns for maritime security. Safesea insists on a comprehensive review by bodies like the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) and the United Nations.
The company is questioning the effectiveness of existing surveillance and response measures in Iraqi waters, highlighting the absence of preventive security methods amidst unusual vessel activity. Safesea calls for the release of radar and coastal surveillance data and a reevaluation of security protocols to safeguard seafarers and international trade routes.
