Delhi's economic survey report indicates a notable increase in the number of motor vehicles on its roads, reaching 87.61 lakh by the fiscal year 2025-26, marking a 7.93% rise from the previous year. The increase predominantly features two-wheelers, reflecting the city's growing preference for motorcycles and scooters.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) continues to play a crucial role as the city's major public transport entity. Despite a slight drop in average daily ridership from the previous year, DTC is expanding its fleet with a significant addition of electric buses, highlighting a shift towards sustainable transport solutions.
The survey also brings attention to vehicle deregistrations aligned with regulatory bans on older diesel and petrol vehicles, further underpinning the city's commitment to reducing its environmental footprint.
