LPG Booking Panic Subsides Amidst Adequate Supply Assurance
LPG panic bookings have dropped significantly as the government assures adequate supply. While concerns remain, consumer shifts to piped gas are noted. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas announced a notable decrease in panic bookings for LPG cylinders, with only 55 lakh reservations made last Thursday. An inter-ministerial briefing provided updates on essential commodity availability, focusing on fuel and gas amid existing geopolitical tensions.
Joint Secretary Sujata Sharma highlighted improvements in the LPG supply situation, ensuring consumers there is ample stock nationwide with no dry outlets. Despite progress, Sharma acknowledged lingering concerns, as the LPG scenario remains problematic.
Sharma observed a shift in consumer behavior, with a significant number of users transitioning to piped natural gas (PNG). She underscored the strengthened monitoring mechanisms across 32 states and union territories, including the establishment of control rooms and district monitoring committees.
