Shiv Sena Member of Parliament Naresh Mhaske has called for the new railway station between Thane and Mulund to be named 'Dharmveer Anand Dighe Station,' after the late party leader. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has sanctioned Rs 250 crore for the station's construction, a proposal now with the Railway Board.
In Parliament, Mhaske advocated on behalf of Deputy Chief Minister and Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde, emphasizing the importance of the station in alleviating congestion at the existing Thane railway station, which serves the transport needs of Thane's 26 lakh residents. The new station is expected to play a crucial role in easing commuter woes.
Mhaske outlined additional demands, including the reopening of medical facilities at Thane station, reinstating senior citizen concessions, and improving train services between Mumbai and nearby districts. He also sought improvements such as platform extensions and better connectivity to Navi Mumbai airport, aiming to enhance the region's transportation infrastructure.
