Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has taken a significant step towards combating pollution by directing government departments to exclusively purchase electric vehicles. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to promote sustainable transport solutions.
The directive includes a mandate to hire only electric vehicles within the Core Urban Region, which primarily encompasses the state capital. The Chief Minister unveiled these plans during a meeting with officials from the transport and roads and buildings departments.
In addition, Reddy emphasized the importance of public awareness on road safety through short films and is pushing forward with pioneering plans for a modern bus terminal at Shamshabad, anticipated to link with high-speed rail corridors connecting Hyderabad with major cities like Pune, Bengaluru, and Chennai.
