The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet has sanctioned the Mukhyamantri Gram Parivahan Yojana-2026, which ensures every village in the state receives bus connectivity. Under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's direction, the policy aims to connect 59,163 gram sabhas with tax-free bus operations managed by private individuals.

Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh outlined plans for smaller buses in areas with limited road access, accommodating up to 28 passengers. Local committees will decide fares, and residents will be employed as drivers and conductors, fostering community involvement. The initiative promises an operational lifespan of 15 years for the buses, with permits granted initially for 10 years.

The new transport network targets students, professionals, and traders, promoting ease of travel. The application process for operators includes a 45-day timeline, involving vehicle arrangement and route selection by district-level committees. This step by the Uttar Pradesh government aims to enhance rural accessibility and economic opportunities.
