General Motors' aftermarket brand, ACDelco, has marked its return to the Indian market through a licensing agreement with Assurance Intl Ltd, announced on Monday. The pact grants Assurance Intl Ltd the rights to manufacture, market, and distribute select ACDelco products in India, initially focusing on lubricants and batteries.
Nilesh Garg, Chief Business & Growth Officer at Assurance Intl Ltd, revealed that the company plans to invest Rs 300 crore in a battery production plant in Haryana. The plant, aimed at producing 25,000 units daily, is expected to commence operations by April 2026. Meanwhile, existing manufacturing facilities are being utilized to support immediate market demands.
Despite General Motors exiting India in 2017, ACDelco's re-entry leverages Assurance Intl's extensive distribution network, encompassing 260 distributors and around 25,000 retailers nationwide. This strategic comeback aims to meet the aftermarket needs of vehicles on Indian roads, with predicted revenues reaching Rs 75 to Rs 100 crore in the next three to four years.
