Punjab Cabinet Advances Budget Plans for 2026-27

The Punjab Cabinet, in a significant move, has cleared the supplementary demands for grants for the year 2025-26 and the upcoming budget estimates for 2026-27. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, this decision was finalized during a council meeting at the Vidhan Sabha Secretariat.

As the budget session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha commenced on Friday, the focus was firmly set on financial planning and transparency. The state budget is expected to be presented on March 8, a Sunday, marking a crucial step in the region's economic trajectory.

A spokesperson from the chief minister's office revealed that the Cabinet had also approved the presentation of audit reports by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India, alongside the Finance and Appropriation Accounts for the 2024-25 fiscal year, ensuring accountability in governance.
