Lucknow Metro introduced a cutting-edge QR-based ticketing system on Monday, enhancing the convenience of metro travel by allowing bookings from virtually anywhere. Officially launched at Hazratganj Metro Station by UPMRC MD Sushil Kumar, the system enables booking through a mobile app, vending machines, and counters.
The new digital system offers tickets in QR format on passengers' phones or as paper-based tickets from counters and designated machines. Commuters can now use these QR tickets to enter and exit metro stations seamlessly by scanning the codes at AFC gates.
Sushil Kumar highlighted the initiative as a significant step in smart travel, aligning with 'Digital India' to make services easily accessible. The upcoming phase will introduce the National Common Mobility Card, ensuring a seamless journey across metro systems following successful implementations in Kanpur and Agra.
