Chaos in the Skies: Nairobi Airport Strike Causes Major Disruptions

A strike at Kenya's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi is leading to significant flight delays, impacting both departures and arrivals, according to Kenya Airways and the national airports operator.

The airport, a major air transport hub in Africa, faces a labour dispute between the aviation workers' union and the civil aviation authority. Central to the dispute are unresolved worker grievances, particularly the failure to finalize a collective bargaining agreement.

In an attempt to avert the strike issued by the union last week, the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority has moved to court seeking an injunction to block the workers from proceeding with their industrial action.
